Many of the South West Local Records Centres are able to offer long-term placements of 6-months to 1 year for undergraduate or graduate students on a relevant degree course, or as part of a course which includes a work experience element. These are normally volunteer positions to enable students to gain experience in many of the skills used at LRCs, and to gain in-depth understanding of how local records centres work.
If you are interested in a long-term placement at one of the SW LRCs, contact the LRC directly to discuss their current opportunities. Alternatively, specific placement posts may be advertised on each of the LRC's own websites, or on environmental job websites.
As not-for-profit organisations, volunteers are essential to enable us to carry out our work. All the SW LRCs welcome volunteers to help with a whole range of tasks, including office admin, data entry, data verification, web and IT-related work, … and much more.
Vacancies for specialist volunteer posts are often advertised on each SW LRC's website, or on environmental job websites. But please contact your Local Records Centre directly to see if you can help with our work.
Positions for full-time, part-time or contract staff are advertised on the SW LRC's own websites, or on environmental job websites
